The Furious Gazelle wants you to enter our Spring 2020 writing contest! Write away the dark nights of winter all the way into spring, and possibly win some  money.

When: Submissions will be open from now until June 15, 2020 11:59 p.m. ET

What can you get? The Winner of the Spring 2020 contest will receive $30 and a book in the genre of their choosing (the book is US-only, but if you live in another country we will make sure to send you another delightful surprise).

All finalists will be published on thefuriousgazelle.com (which offers a priceless amount in bragging rights).

How

This year, the Spring contest will be free to enter. Please send your submission to submit@thefuriousgazelle.com with SPRING CONTEST + your name in the subject line.

Rules:

The contest has no theme. Send us your strongest work on any topic.

We accept all genres of writing, and up to five pieces, totaling 5,000 words or under, from a single entrant (for plays, max. 10 pages). If submitting multiple entries, please send each separately. Submissions should be sent as a .docx or .doc.

Critique

Purchasing a critique offers a chance to receive constructive criticism about your entry. Constructive criticism is a great way to learn how to become a stronger writer. We will provide three lines of feedback: what we liked, what could be working better, techniques you could consider using to strengthen your story.

If you’d like constructive feedback, click here to purchase the item in the Square store (non-US: send $8 via paypal to thefuriousgazelle@gmail.com and note your receipt number in your submission e-mail).

Donation

Just want to support our contest? We’re committed to keeping our Spring contest free to enter, but that costs money. If you can, please consider contributing with your entry. Your $5 contribution will go towards the first place prize, and our website hosting costs. If you’d like to contribute, click here to donate through our Square store (non-US: send $5 via paypal to thefuriousgazelle@gmail.com) and submit your entry as an attachment to submit@thefuriousgazelle.com.

Donating will not have any impact on your chances of winning, but it will earn our eternal gratitude, and help us to keep the Furious Gazelle online.
